Description

This gorgeous lidded ceramic pot has gone through an intense process to achieve its rich coloration and splashes of iridescence. The raku process requires the piece to be coated in glaze and then fired before being removed from the kiln while still red-hot. The red-hot piece is then placed into a sealed container with combustible materials. This reduction period allows color to develop in the glaze and the combustible materials Jon uses leave unpredictable organic patterns on the vessel. For each pot, Jon creates a perfectly fitted lid with a decorative handle.

This tall, narrow vessel is elegant while retaining a tactile and earthy feel. Its matte finish and rich tones warm any space. The lid features a dragonfly, which is quite a powerful symbol. In most mythologies, dragonflies represent courage, strength and happiness, especially in times of change.
